Inspiration 1

Interior design isn’t a one-fits-all approach. Interior design is the freedom to be creative, share ideas, and transform a space into an area that draws inspiration from around the world. Cultures, religion, and interior designers spread their influences far and wide to create the most diverse interior design adaptations we’ve ever seen. Below, we’ll look at some of the best inspirations from cultures and designers from across the globe.

Cultural Inspirations

Two standout cultures have heavily influenced the western world with their design inspiration.

The Balinese culture is the most interesting – hotels and homes in Bali incorporate the outdoors like no other culture. Featuring wooden interiors mixed with plants and white features is the pinnacle of Balinese interior design. It’s fresh, adaptable, and inviting. Balinese bathrooms have also worked their way into western interior design.

Moroccan is the other culture-inspired interior design trend that everyone loves. Many interior designers will say that Moroccan interiors are colorful and full of textures – two of the best things about the inspiration. The middle eastern vibes usually feature maroons and reds, yellows, emerald greens, accompanied by dark wicker furniture. It’s another vibrant and inviting style of interior that many homes in the western world have favored.

Religious Inspirations

Religion isn’t always the easiest to draw inspiration from, but there are two religions that homes around the world can draw inspiration from.

Judaism is the first on the list thanks to its use of colors, beautifully designed ornaments, religious objects like Kiddush cups and the menorah that become showpieces when not in use, and fine art. Colors like whites and blues typically feature in Jewish households, especially in Israel, where the religion originates from.

Famous Interior Designers From Across The Globe

Sometimes it’s not the culture or the religion that brings interior design to life; it’s the designers who have an eye for design and the ability to draw inspiration from around the world.

Jean-Louis Deniot, for example, is an interior designer from Paris that’s recognized for his luxurious interiors. He chooses to use the past as his inspiration, favoring the 17th century. India Mahdavi is another architect and designer from France that draws inspiration from her Iranian roots, incorporating vibrant colors into her work. Sig Bergamin from Brazil uses Brazilian culture and interior design as his inspiration, bringing a modern twist to his interior design creations.

Most famous designers were born and bred in New York but find inspiration from cultures and designers from around the globe.

Interior design constantly evolves. Designers are always changing their vision to suit the emerging interior design trends. There is no such thing as the best interior design idea. Every new idea is typically a fresh take on a previous trend that pushes the evolution of interior design forward.
