As well as a rain barrel you can have a dedicated tank sunk into your yard. This will collect rainwater but it will also be connected to appliances in your home. The water can then be used for flushing the toilet or even washing up.

10. Shorten Your Showers

The average shower consumes 5 gallons of water a minute. Take one minute of your shower and that’s how much water you save:
