Cleaning

Epoxy flooring is becoming extremely popular nowadays because it offers many benefits for home and business owners alike. The epoxy material is durable, easy to install, and it simply looks beautiful. It is a reliable and long-lasting alternative to concrete flooring solutions.

Once your epoxy flooring is installed, however, you will need to perform simple yet effective maintenance and cleaning procedures to keep your floor in pristine condition. The more proactive you are about maintaining and cleaning your epoxy flooring, the more durable and long-lasting the material will remain.

Here are some tips and recommendations on how to keep your epoxy flooring in tip-top condition:

Regularly cleaning your floor

Although it is true that many people install epoxy flooring to limit some of the inconveniences of constant cleaning, it is still strongly recommended that you continue to sweep and mop your floor routinely.

Avoid acid- and soap-based cleaners

We cannot stress how important it is that you avoid you using any acidic cleaners or cleaners that contain soap, and the reason why is that these products tend to leave residue on your floor which can weaken and eat away at the epoxy overlay. We recommend that you use Soft Scrub, an all-purpose cleaning solution that is often used for stain removal.

Structural reinforcement

If you are operating out of a warehouse, then odds are there is a lot of heavy machinery and other materials that are constantly getting moved around. We want to emphasize that any area where heavy materials are being moved around needs to be cleared of any clutter or debris. Also, place some plywood under any jack stands that are carrying heavy loads.

Use doormats

When it snows outside, then it is very helpful to have a welcome mat placed right at the entrance of your home, garage, or business so that people can remove any excess snow from their shoes or boots.

Stain removal

If a stain does form on your epoxy flooring, then we advise that you perform some light scrubbing with a kitchen scrubbing pad to remove it. Try to avoid using any cleaning equipment with stiff plastic bristles, as this could end up scratching your floor.

Minor Spills

If you spill a glass of water on the floor, the best thing to do is to wipe it away with a paper towel or any softer cloth material that will not have an abrasive effect on your flooring.

Heavy-Duty Cleaning

If your epoxy flooring requires a thorough cleaning, then we recommend that you clear the floor of any debris or trash before using a hard foam mop, hot water, and clear ammonia to clean the area. You only need to use four to five ounces of ammonia to perform a thorough cleaning.

Additional information

It is also important to know that epoxy flooring can be cleaned via power washers or a squeegee. You should also place a mouse pad under the kick-stand of a motorcycle (if you are to part it on top of your epoxy flooring installation). You should also use a specialized mat when welding in an area where there is epoxy flooring.
