Oil filled electric radiators, for example, are a sleek, chic addition that can become a feature of the room rather than something you hide behind the sofa.
Upgrade the flooring
Are the carpets looking tired? Do the floorboards need some TLC? An easy, yet effective update to how your floors look can make a huge difference.
Invest in carpets that are likely to last and choose a colour that will open the space up. Alternatively, if you love a wooden floor, look at the condition of existing boards and make replacements. You may find that the wood needs to be buffed and sanded, but it’s worth the effort.
