5 Tips to Bring the Farmhouse Style to Your Home

1

As its name indicates, the Farmhouse style is about a decoration inspired by country life. But beware, it does not resemble the style of Spanish country houses, but rather the English countryside or American farms. There are many interior design styles you can choose from, but farmhouse style is very much in trend these days.

Despite its rustic and somewhat scruffy touch, the Farmhouse environments convey a lot of tranquility and what I call the “warmth of home.” That makes them as special as they are cozy.

Take a look at these photos, and you will notice what I tell you.

Wood and lots of it !: it is the material par excellence in style. It is usually present in ceilings, wall cladding, and furniture (often painted white or with an aged finish). Other materials you can use are brick or metal, as they #DecoMatch with wood.

Light colors: luminous tones predominate in this style—for example, white, beige, light gray, or vanilla. If you want to create a more romantic combination, I suggest contrasting those colors with pastel tones. A combination of turquoise, lilac, or yellow might work.

2

Rustic and durable furniture: I mean very traditional designs, like a rocking chair in the living room, a pantry in the kitchen, or a sturdy table in the dining room. Furniture needs to be large and sturdy to give that “lifelong” feel. And much better if they are old restored pieces.

3

Checkered or striped prints: these designs are perfect for the interior of Farmhouse spaces because they add a bit of fun to the decoration without breaking with the soft aesthetic. Where to use them? Curtains, bedding, tablecloths, and cushions.

4

The farm-related decor will be the icing on the cake and will make the concept you have chosen for your home very clear, so don’t overlook it. An easy way out is to use pictures with rural motifs: tools, signs, animals, or landscapes.

5

Another option is to use ornaments such as natural and wildflowers, watering cans, glass bottles, sackcloth, retro telephones, horseshoes, metal baskets, and there are many options!

As you can see, turning your house into a chic farm is much easier than it seems. The Farmhouse style has become so fashionable that we can find compatible elements with it in many stores.
