Many people think of ceilings as something that is simply functional and not as something that is beautifully decorative, however, there are more and more homeowners who are finding that coffered ceilings give their home an unexpected beauty that is often overlooked. On this infographic below, Tilton Coffered Ceilings shows what every homeowner should know about coffered ceilings.
Although there are almost no limitations when it comes to coffered ceilings, there are some designs that are simply stunning, which might explain their popularity.
{ 1 } Traditional
A classic coffered ceiling, sometimes called traditional style, has a simple box type design with a sunken centre. The charm of the classic style is that you can alter it and/or customize it to make it unique; add ceiling tiles, paint it, even wallpaper it, the choice is yours.
{ 2 } Rustic
If you love the beauty and warmth of a wood floor, why not match it with an equally warm ceiling? Made from fiberboard, these are a terrific answer for covering up those old fashioned popcorn ceilings. These squares use rough or smooth wood styles to give your home the feel of a cabin or country living.
{ 3 } Contemporary
This design has really taken off in the past decade. Using a beadboard type of ceiling and wainscoting, this type of coffered ceiling gives a type of laid back, “beach” feeling to your home, which is why it is often called the coastal look or coastal style. The minimalist style goes with almost any décor as it has an understated look.
{ 4 } Geometric
One of the terrific things about coffered ceilings is that the only limit is your imagination. If squares and rectangles don’t impress you, try geometric shapes, such as triangles or octagons. You can put one large geometric shape in the centre or make them into a larger or smaller pattern all over the ceiling. There is almost no shape or design that will not work. The possibilities are endless!
