Is The Tiny Home Trend Growing?

Over the past few years there has been a growing appetite for more flexibility in the working environment and a major shift to remote work and the proposed four day week could be helping this too – with tips on how to make the best of this new flexibility at digitalnomads.world for remote workers and travelling workers, there’s plenty of alternatives too with a few being glamourized over the years, but some of the changes particularly now seem to be sticking around for a longer period of time with a desire for change being more common.

Two approaches have become the known trend – the first had been for large vehicle and van conversions and had been considered a perfect choice for those wanting to live on the road and travel whilst having some of the convenience of home whilst being able to go somewhere new whenever the mood comes – this had become most common in the US and many of the videos of those living a more nomadic lifestyle in this sense did emerge from states that experienced a lot of sunshine and good weather year round, but the trend did inspire many from other countries to explore options here too.

In a somewhat extension of this change, tiny homes would also quickly catch on and have become the latest trend in a few different varieties – some still preferred the portability of van life conversions and instead of buying a van would buy a larger trailer or build directly on-top of a trailed wheelbase, whilst not exactly easy things to move it did combine the two markets for a small living space that could be transported if desired.

The second approach was for something more permanent, a dedicated lot with what could be considered a traditional home being built but on a much smaller scale – whilst the smaller footprint can be used for a desirable location there have been suggestions that building a tiny home can be more expensive per foot than a traditional home, but other factors like efficiency, eco-friendliness, and minimalism were all considered to be good reasons to off-set this change too. It’s still very much a niche space though and so tiny homes aren’t overly common, but if the trend continues to grow, they’ll be more common to see too.

It’s certainly an interesting space that’s growing and something blending the world of remote workers, nomads, and those looking for something more permanent too – it’s safe to say the tiny home trend hasn’t stopped growing just yet however.
