Alcohol Detox

Community Hospital North offers a customized alcohol detox program for individuals seeking a medically supervised program to stop drinking. Patients are required to live in residence on campus, attend class and support group meetings while working with a treatment team and outside recovery advisors.

Patients who want to attend Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings are provided an opportunity to do so. Patients are also required to complete a workbook with a list of small daily tasks that require commitment and teamwork.

Opioid Detox

Opioid Detox

Opioid detox at Community Hospital North is designed to provide individuals with the necessary tools and resources to achieve long-term recovery. A combination of pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment is utilized. During a detox period, individuals are restricted from consuming alcohol, drugs, and illicit drugs. They will receive medications to reduce withdrawal symptoms, such as aches, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cramps, headache, anxiety, and emotional distress. Community Hospital North provides medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorders that includes the use of Suboxone or Methadone.

Benzodiazepine Detox

Community Hospital North provides a medically supervised rehab treatment for benzodiazepine addiction. Benzodiazepine detox typically takes 2-4 weeks, with day/night sleeping times and alertness cycles. People are given doses of Chlorpromazine (chloral hydrate) to facilitate sleep and muscle relaxants, anti-anxiety, and anti-seizure medications. Adequate nutrition, hydration, and exercise are also prescribed to prevent withdrawal nausea and other GI symptoms. Addiction counseling and medication administration are also required before discharge from the inpatient rehabilitation program.

Group and Individual Therapies

Group and Individual Therapies

The group therapy at Community Hospital North is a combination of treatments meant to help patients become more mindful. Participants, through dialogue and communication, explore and address the problems in their lives. One or more therapists facilitate this type of therapy. The process involves members sharing what they think the problems are, the problems they identify in other group members, and how they react to what others share with them.

Community Hospital North also offers individual psychotherapy. It involves an individual talking about their thoughts and feelings with a therapist to improve mental health.  This is a one-on-one conversation between a therapist and their patient where they discuss the person’s mental health problems and work on their relationship with themselves.
