Dining Table 2

There’s something about French dining tables that make me want to eat, drink and be merry. I don’t know if it’s the rustic charm or the simple elegance of these tables, but I’m sure glad I’ve got one, you should also buy French provincial dining table sets!

French dining tables are a great addition to any home. If you’re looking for a new one for your kitchen or dining room, here are 9 small upgrades you can make to make your table even better:

  • Add an Extension Leaf

If you have a large family or if you entertain frequently, then adding an extension leaf is a must-have upgrade. It will allow you to easily seat more people at your table when needed.

  • Choose a Different Finish

Try painting your table instead of staining it or adding another finish like distressing it with sandpaper. This will give the table a new look while keeping it classic enough so that it doesn’t clash with other elements in the room like walls or floors. You could also try adding some stenciling or other decorative elements to add interest without going overboard with color or design changes on this piece of furniture.

  • Add some color

If your dining table is white or light in color, try bringing some color into the space with a vase or decorative bowl. This instantly gives the room a more interesting look and feel. If you’re looking for something that isn’t too bold or in-your-face, consider using neutral colors as accents instead.

  • Personalize it with art or photos

You can also use artwork or framed photos to personalize your French dining table — just make sure they’re meaningful to you! For example, if you have kids at home, try framing pictures of them on special occasions like birthdays or holidays so they can be displayed on display shelves near your dining area.

  • Replace Your Glass Top with a Wood One

Glass tops are great for allowing light into the room but they can be tricky to keep clean and free from scratches. A wood top is a good alternative because it offers many of the same benefits but it’s much easier on your wallet. Wood is also more durable than glass so you won’t have to worry about replacing it anytime soon.

  • Add Some Color with Throw Pillows

French dining tables are often very simple in terms of color palette but adding throw pillows can add some much-needed variety without taking away from the overall look of the room. Look for pillows with patterns or designs that complement your existing furniture pieces so they don’t look out of place with other elements in the room.

  • Replace the Legs

If your table has four legs and looks like this…

…replace them with two legs and add a stretcher or crossbar underneath. You’ll immediately give your table a more modern look that works in any decor style.

  • Change the Shape of Your Table

A round table is fun but also very informal. If you’re looking to add some formality to your dining area, change out your round table for an oval one instead. Or choose an oblong one instead if you want something more square-shaped.

  • Upgrade Your Lighting Fixtures

Depending on how much light there is in your dining area, you may want to replace overhead lighting with sconces that are attached directly to the wall above each side of your table (or both sides). This will give off better overall lighting for when it’s time to eat!
