The Basics Of Carpet Cleaning

Carpet is mainly found in high traffic areas of offices and homes.

Carpets in office areas are mainly used for soundproofing as well as for insurance purposes since they provide office staff with a non-slippery surface to walk on without getting injured.

Carpets are used in most houses in active areas like bedrooms and living rooms for basically the same reasons. Anybody who has ever lived in an apartment has had noisy neighbors at some point, with arguments or footsteps reaching up through paper-thin ceilings and floors. You probably wished that your upstairs neighbors would at least place some carpet on the floors to reduce the noise. Or maybe you have young children who are very active with playing and running around. So for your baby you can have baby activity mat which will help your baby to play.

Rooms with carpeting help to reduce echo and noise, soften the acoustics and spare your neighbors from all the noise and items falling onto the floor that is coming from your house. Carpets have shock-absorbing properties as well that help to protect people against injuries from falling. Given that carpet is used in rooms with high traffic, proper maintenance is critical for it to be long-lasting. The only way to ensure that you have beautiful, safe, and clean carpeting for many years is to have basic carpet maintenance done on a regular basis.

Clean air and carpets

Clean air and carpets

Many people think that carpeting contributes to allergy and asthma symptoms. However, in reality, the opposite is true. It has been shown in recent studies that people who work and live in carpeted rooms show fewer allergy and asthma symptoms compared to individuals working in offices or living in houses that have hard floors. The studies have also shown that rooms that have bare floors have higher concentrations of fine particles compared to rooms that have wall-to-wall carpeting, Parties like pet dander, dust, and pollen that fall on the floor are actually trapped by carpet fibers, and that prevents the particles from getting redistributed via the air. Making sure your carpets are properly vacuumed and maintained is the key to having cleaner air.

Prevention and maintenance

In terms of maintenance, carpets are the same as other parts of your office and home. Prevention is the best way to keep carpets clean. Identify and get rid of as many sources of dirt that can infiltrate the carpet fibers. Putting floor mats in the entrances and exits of your office or home is your first line of defense. That helps to protect against the excessive build-up of dirt. Ask people to take their shoes off before they come into your house, especially during the winter. A majority of offices require employees to take off their boots and only wear office shoes.

Weekly maintenance

A majority of people hate to vacuum and make the big mistake of neglecting to do so when they are cleaning. Another very common mistake is using carpet sweepers. Although carpet sweepers are easy and quick, they are ineffective since they just get rid of surface dirt and when they are used too often can ruin your carpet. It makes sense that regular and good vacuuming will help to keep your carpeting clean and prevent abrasion as well. Low traffic areas should be vacuumed twice a week at least and busier areas every other day. High-quality carpets should last for at least ten years when they are maintained regularly. Proper vacuuming will also help to improve your indoor air quality and comply with your carpet warranty as well. So the better you are at keeping your carpets vacuumed, the longer you will need to wait to buy new carpet and the better you will be able to breathe.

Weekly maintenance

Yearly maintenance

Research has shown that there are limits to regular vacuuming and should be supplement with a professional carpet cleaning service in order to get rid of accumulated dirt that cannot be seen by the naked eye. In order to rejuvenate the fibers and refresh the texture of your carpet, you should have a thorough carpet cleaning done twice a year at least by trained and experienced carpet cleaning professionals. Hot water extraction carpet cleaning is required by most carpet warranties. There are some types of carpet that require different cleaning methods. Check with the carpet manufacturer for the cleaning method that is recommended for your specific type of carpeting.

Keep in mind that carpets are a major playground for bacteria and dust if they are not cleaned on a regular basis, particularly during the summer. Mold and bacteria thrive in warmer temperatures. To eliminate them, your best option is to hire a professional cleaning service. These companies have all of the right cleaning solutions and tools that are necessary to effectively get rid of dirt, pet dander, allergens, and dust mites from your carpets.

Your home furnishings and decorations are a reflection of your entire family. Don’t allow your reputation to be sullied by neglected carpets. Carpets provide your home with added comfort, warmth, and beauty, and also provide noise reduction and safety. Don’t allow them to become a haven for bad odors, stains, mold, and dirt.
